An offline drawing game for iPhone and iPad
When you want a game without internet, pass one device around. Monster Maker’s local games work completely offline: two or three people take turns drawing a head, body and legs, then discover the creature they made together.
Set up before your trip
Download the app while you have an internet connection, then open it and try a shared-device game before you leave. Choose two or three players and check that everyone is comfortable drawing and passing the device.
If you plan to use any purchased features, set those up while connected too. The offline drawing game does not need Wi-Fi or mobile data, but downloading the app, purchases and online services need a connection.
- Charge the iPhone or iPad you will share.
- Install and open the app before you lose internet access.
- Try one local round so you know how to finish a turn and hand over.
- Bring an Apple Pencil if you like using one on a compatible iPad; a finger works too.
A game for a flight, train ride or cabin
Take turns while seated together on a journey, or bring the iPad to a table when you arrive. Because each drawing is hidden before you pass it on, the next person gets a fresh part to imagine.
Choose a theme from the trip: an ocean creature on the way to the beach, a mountain monster for a cabin stay, or an alien heading off on holiday. These prompts do not need extra materials or a connection.
What works offline, and what needs internet?
Local drawing and passing the device work offline. You can finish the head, body and legs and reveal your monster together on that device.
Inviting someone on a different device is online play and needs internet. So does syncing your gallery between devices through iCloud. If you are offline, keep playing together locally and reconnect when you want to use online services.
A paper version for a screen break
The same hidden-part idea also works with a sheet of paper and a pencil. Fold the sheet into three sections, draw a head, hide it, and pass the next section to another person. Leave small joining lines so the body and legs connect.
Keep both options handy for a trip: a shared device for saving your monster collection, or paper when you want everyone to put screens away.

Can we play in airplane mode?
Yes. A game on one device works offline once the app is installed. Set up downloads and purchases while connected before your trip.
Can two phones play together without internet?
The offline mode uses one shared device. Play between separate devices uses the online mode and needs an internet connection.
